Becoming a Relationship Therapist
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been interested in what it means to be human. Not only do I find people and relationships fascinating, but I believe they are the most important part of the human experience. My own romantic relationship has confirmed this for me.
Over the years, that interest drew me to the field of social work and therapy. I’ve found joy in meeting others and supporting them in life’s journey. I am passionate about helping others in having a healthy, fulfilling relationship and life.
I believe that human beings are capable of tremendous growth, love, and connection—and that none of us have to be stuck where we are. No matter where you’re starting from, therapy can support you in breaking out of “stuckness” and discovering more of who you really are.
I relate to my clients as whole and complete, not broken or needing to be fixed. From that context, I support you in discovering the barriers and obstacles to having your life and relationships really thrive. Together, we explore some of life’s most important questions.
My philosophy is that therapy is not about having you feel happy all the time, but instead about being fully human and alive. I don’t think there is any wrong way for you to be or feel.
In embracing your authentic self, you have the opportunity to step into the dreams and goals that may have been lying dormant inside of you for years.
My Counseling Style and Strengths
I promise to create a space for you to show up and be exactly as you are. I am warm, casual, and relaxed. I think therapy should strike a balance between comfort and discomfort, challenging and playful.
I promise that your unique situation will be treated as such. No therapy should be one-size-fits-all. I’ll tailor my work to be a fit for where you are and where you want to go.
Professional Counseling Background
I have a decade of clinical experience, having worked with children, adolescents, and adults. My work has covered a variety of challenges including crisis management, mental illness, and parenting children with developmental disabilities.
I’ve also been employed as a Clinical Administrator at a rapidly growing and forward-thinking infant development program. I oversaw a team of behavior interventionists and provided company-wide crisis trainings.
