A Private One-On-One Weekend
with a Gottman Trained Therapist Can Help!

Professional therapist trained in a scientific method

This Therapy Getaway is an extended period of time together with a professional therapist trained in a scientific method with proven results. Your retreat will be comprised of personalized and specialized therapy for your relationship spanning three consecutive days and 15+ hours.

This weekend retreat is equivalent to many months of 50-minute sessions and can make an immediate and impactful change.

Gottman Method Couples Therapy provides real tools that allow you to transform problems and create stronger foundations. This approach is very productive and provides a safe and calm space for healing and growth.

The goals of Gottman Method Couples Therapy are to disarm conflicting verbal communication, increase intimacy, respect, and affection, remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy in conflicting situations, and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.

Drs. John and Julie Gottman developed nine components of healthy relationships
known as The Sound Relationship House Theory. (Gottman Institute)

Intensive Relationship Therapy Can Help You:

Pinpoint specific issues that create negative patterns in your relationship.

Develop means to hear and understand your partner through empathy and validation.

Learn to process past emotional wounds and resentments without having the fight over again.

Discover ways to disrupt the four“horseman” (criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling) to stay connected while communicating.

Enhance actions to stay connected.

Share fondness and admiration to work on the friendship of the relationship.

Create shared meaning to connect in large and small ways.

Develop a more satisfying sex life with heightened passion and romance.

“Research has shown that intensive sessions can produce much larger effects and significantly lessen relapse.”

Consider Intensive Couples Therapy as an Extreme Relationship Makeover

Therapy Getaways can move couples from thinking of ending their relationship to recommitting in new ways. It also guides couples back on the right track to reestablishing emotional connections and creating safety with each other to build intimacy and true healing.

WHO THIS IS FOR...

Couples who want to make changes quickly.

Couples who live out of the area.

Couples who have opposite schedules, travel or struggle to set aside time for weekly sessions.

Couples in a crisis and need to shift their relationship rapidly

WHO THIS IS NOT FOR...

Couples who are not committed to the intensive nature of this process.

Where one or both are suffering from an untreated mental illness (especially if suicidal or homicidal).

If ongoing violence or threats happen by either partner.

When there is an ongoing or undisclosed affair.

When one person feels pushed into doing this.

It is important to set up a consultation to ensure you are a good fit for intensive relationship therapy. That consultation is free. We will need to talk with both individuals. All couples will receive a scientific evaluation of their relationship.

Let’s Begin the Path to a Healthier Relationship

Before the weekend begins, you will both be given access to an online Relationship Checkup.

The Gottman Relationship Checkup is an online assessment tool created by Drs. John and Julie Gottman in collaboration with The Gottman Institute in Seattle, Washington. The assessment is composed of 480 questions in five categories: Friendship and Intimacy, The Safety Scales, The Conflict Scales, The Shared Meaning System, and Individual Areas of Concern. Question topics include friendship, intimacy, conflict, finances, children, trust, commitment, drug and alcohol screenings, and individual issues that can put a relationship at risk.

You will each access it confidentially and will not be able to see each other’s answers. Your clinician will get the results and have specific areas to work on with you based on that assessment. The overall test takes about one and a half hours to complete. However, you can work on it in small increments as it will save as you go.

If we are booking on a weekend, it can be helpful to stay in a hotel or a Bed and Breakfast so that you are really disengaging from “regular” life.

FRIDAY NIGHT – 3 hours

Information gathering sessions: where we review not only the problems that need to be addressed but also the story of how you fell in love and became attached to each other. Many can feel a bit more hopeful at this time.

SATURDAY 9AM to 4:30PM

  • Feedback session from assessments and plans for interventions
  • Treatment interventions with concrete tools
  • Wrap–up and handouts

SUNDAY 9AM to 4:30PM

  • Treatment interventions
  • Wrap–up and handouts

Each day is comprised of two 3-hour therapy blocks between lunch with breaks. Alongside the 15 hours of intensive therapy, you will receive a take–home package of tools and supplemental material.

PRICING

  • with a Certified Gottman Therapist - $6,700
  • with an Associate Intensive Therapist - $5,200

Note: Many people use their Flexible Spending or Health Savings Accounts for this investment.

What is your relationship worth?

Compare this investment with the $15,000 to $20,000 in divorce costs plus the emotional pain of ending a relationship.
